Ch. 2 Month 3

Rachel drops the newspaper down on her coffee table, musing over the idea. Hadn't the humans learned anything from Prohibition?

"You," She snaps her fingers at the ghouls who were cleaning up after their evening meal.
"-You drive me to Rose's place. You-" A finger jab to the other. "-head to the camera store and get me a nice camera and some high speed film. Use the credit card I got you."

She grabs a leather jacket as she exits the haven - had to keep up appearances, after all.
The Ventrue muses over what to do as she sprawls in the passenger seat, watching the town flow by the window. As they approach Rose's club, Rachel insists that the ghoul park and escort her into the club.

She pauses at the door, looking for the other woman.

Rose set down the newspaper as she busied herself behind the bar, motioning to her bartender to attend to the flock of new customers that had been allowed access to the prestigious club. She folded the newspaper and slipped it beneath the counter, before glancing sidelong at Sharky,

"I'm glad I decided not to purchase the cheaper property on Brown Street," Rose commented. She generally made pretty good business decisions and, in general, she chose not to open bars or clubs directly next to the competition. A fresh nightclub in a new area brought better attention - it alluded to something different in the city.

"Union Road was definitely a more insightful location, if I do say so myself." She flashed the Nosferatu a quick grin.

On the door, the bouncer allowed Rachel and her ghoul to pass straight through, much to the annoyance of those being held back in the queue for checking in. Clearly the large, suited man had been informed to let them through without any trouble.

There were several people already mulling around, drinking, dancing and in general behaving in a jovial manner. To the immediate right of the door was a sectioned off room, through which none of the Kine were allowed to venture,

At the bar, Rose moved around the counter and paused briefly in front of Sharky. "I'm glad you decided to go with the suit, darling. You look charming." She gave a quick wink, and patted down his tie.

Sharky folded his arms in the suit. He wore it almost defiantly as Rosie patted him on the chest, but an awkward sort of smile traced across his lips as the bubble of false, but intense love for Rose wiped away what would normally have been a serious indignity.

"Well, if you like it, Rosie," he muttered through his sharp fangs. "Then it must be okay, huh?"

Perhaps they were unaware of it before. But a strange tingling sensation went up the spine of Rose and Sharky as they conversed.

There were three new vampires in the club that you had never seen before.

Two of them appeared to be young, in their early 20s, and of Asian descent.One had blonde hair and the other had black, but other than that, they appeared to be nearly identical twins. They were setting up on the stage. Tonights' DJs are Vampires?

The third appeared to be slightly older, with a pale white complexion and slick back black hair. He appeared to be chatting up one of the mortal club goers as the DJ's set up. It sounds like he has a New York accent.

"Evening," Rachel greeted Rose and Sharkey with a friendly smile. Sharkey's attire drew a glance, but she did not remark upon it.

At Sharkey's comment, Rachel's eye bow rose slightly before she regained her composure and smoothed her countenance into mild indifference. She orders a drink - as she tended to do in clubs- and swished the drink gently in her hand.

She glances at the new vampires on the stage with a passing glance, her face revealing indifference.
If they got through the door - and through Rose's security- then surely they met with the Daeva's approval. No doubt Rose would mention anything of interest about them later.

"You've seen the paper." She is assuming, but she's found the other woman to keep herself abreast of developments.
"Short of developing a tourist attraction that lights up at night, we may have some work ahead." She flashes a smile, lifting her glass for a mimed drink.
"And to think we were resting on our laurels. How has business been, here? Any sign of rabid Christians?"

((Ahh, Kevin. No. Rose hires the bands, DJ's and entertainment who would come into her club to play, she wouldn't allow random people - Kine or Kindred to set up on her stage. She runs the club, she doesn't just own it and reap the rewards. There are bouncers on the door to prevent people randomly walking in.

Furthermore, the club is separated into Kine section and Kindred section. Kindred would NOT be allowed to play in the Kine section. It isn't an Elysium - it's a private club, and strange vampires aren't getting past the ghouls without privately-issued passes.

If you want people to try and sneak into the club in order to start playing, they WILL be ejected from the club once they're noticed on stage. And rolls to grapple to pass the bouncers and other Herd would be necessary first anyway.

I purchased the club with my dots, you can't just dictate what happens in the club without prior discussion.))

Rose gave a quick nod of agreement, but she doesn't yet appear to be unduly concerned wtih the recent developments. "I'll be concerned if they start barking at my door. At the moment I'm just relieved I set up shop nearer to the business district, instead of trying to build business in an area already filled with entertainment." Rose shrugged slightly even so.

"Regardless, if they decide to build a new road along Union as well; I'd be looking at a large payload to sell up and move on. And I've moved on enough through the years that it hardly poses a problem," she stated, her tone quite pragmatic.

Pouring herself a drink from behind the bar, she clinked it against Rachel's glass before setting it down. "Apart from a few of the patrons being a little concerned about us disappearing in the blink of an eye, business has been booming as usual. I think revenue from the other clubs is starting to filter over here instead.

"Still, I find it curious that the new legislature would even attempt to rid the city of its nightclubs. I'm sure over 21's who enjoy a drink and a dance still outnumber the few overzealous religious nuts in the city, who applaud the move." She sighed in an overly dramatic way. "I would hate to have to stick it to a new Prohibition. It can be so tiring."

Sharky leant onto the table next to them, the bandanna over his mouth. He watched the two women conversing. If normal rules had applied, he would probably have been surly and vaguely uninterested, unless they were talking about running drugs or porn through the clubs. Or guns. Guns could be pretty fuckin' lucrative. Hell, weapons at all could be pretty fuckin' lucrative. Before the brief, violent embrace, he'd had a pretty sweet thing going with supplying Hit Kits. It had been a nice side business for when he wasn't breaking someone's legs.

There was a half-full pint glass in front of him, some foreign beer. The smell made his nostrils curl and his Beast grumbled that it didn't want any Goddamn piss from some shitty brewery, but he kept it against his arm anyway.

"Maybe someone with money's makin' a move. Clear-outs like that aren't just 'new legislation'. It's fuckin' unconstitutional, and illegal to boot. This crap about 'Eminent Domain'... fuckin' bird seed, that is, if they ain't paying. And if they are, well," the shark-like Haunt said, with a mobster's blunt assessment of the law. Well, if he was gonna break it, he might as well know what he was breaking. "See, this ain't a highway, it's a minor road, and due monetary compensation for businesses is a fuckin' lot. I mean, we're talkin' millions for the biggest clubs, hundreds of thousands for the tiny ones. That's just fuckin' stupid legislation, y'know? And y'don' need to push through new words for that, it's like..." He floundered for a moment, obviously trying to think of a metaphor that would work in what he regarded as polite company.

"It's like orderin' a pie when you've just made one?" the ex-mobster tried. "...Yeah, that fuckin' sucked, sorry. They can seize without consent in some situations, but yeah... doin' it to a business is... is stupid. They're better off going through y'know, derlict housing and shit."

"And we know there is plenty of derelict housing around." Rachel agreed. "We squatted in it long enough."

She glanced idly at the club goers for a minute, her eyes scanning the crowd before she looks back to the coterie mates.

"I think we ought to make waves for the legislation, ensure this won't happen again. It can be as simple as riling up the over - 21 college crowd.. or we can get nasty."

She smiles, flashing her teeth.

One of Rose's ghouls walks over to her a visible frown hanging over his face.

"Umm, hey sorry to interrupt mam. Its just ughhh. One of the patrons got hurt in the parking lot I think. There's an ambulance and what not taking the guy away."

While this wasn't entirely unusual, drunk people hurt themselves all the time. But it did seem a little early in the night for this sort of thing to be happening. You also don't remember seeing anyone in the club that was -that- drunk either.

"I think college kids who want to get drunk can be very nasty, if given the right sort of push," Rose answered glibly. She swirled the cocktail mixer around in the glass: while she had never been an avid drinker while alive, she did miss the flavours that came with the names.

Ah well.

She made as if to speak further, but paused as her ghoul approached. She frowned slightly, and sighed as though exasperated with the interruption. "And? As long as a fight didn't occur inside my premises I have no legal responsibility for their drunken idiocy," Rose responded calmly. "You don't need to come to me with such trivialities."

The Daeva paused, regarding Greg for a moment longer. "You can continue behind the bar. There are customers waiting."

"I could go make sure they don't bother you again, Rosie," Sharky said, smiling faintly behind the smooth material of the bandana. A faint smile from his mouth, of course, was pretty damn scary even so. It was probably a good thing he usually covered it in the company of the kine, even when those kine were Rose's herd.

And he also really liked breaking legs.

Rachel nodded.

"Lets start there, with the easiest to manipulate. We don't have to use the faces of our associates. I have Sam out buying necessities for any sort of thing that needs to be made public.

Shall we go and scout out some hard core drinkers at the clubs?"

"Interviewing future alcoholics, and investigating my competition... that sounds like a wonderful idea," Rose flashed a quick grin. It sounded like a fine evening. "We can leave the back way. If the ambulance is outside, there may be witnesses looking to take photographs. That would be...awkward for all concerned."

She slipped an arm through Sharky's. "You may even get to break legs while we're out, Miles," Rose added in a glib tone of voice.

Rose led the way through the door that opened from the bar into the storage room. From there, there were a few steps downward into the cellar where the beer, and other alcoholic beverages were stored. Even from the back entrance, the glowing green of the fire exit was visible.

Once the other two Kindred were through, the door would close automatically behind them.

She pushed it open onto the back of the building, away from prying eyes and ambulances of the other side of the club.

"What a refreshing night."

"Excellent idea,' Rachel smiled. The three vampires worked quite well together. Especially in dividing the domains amongst themselves.

"Marvelous evening, I agree." Rachel responded, pulling our her cell phone.
"I'm just telling Sam to meet us at the red light district."

She sent her Sam Ward a message saying exactly that.

"I'm thinking the internet would favor us. We rile someone up to be the face and attribute our fan pages and protests around him."

Sharky tucked his hands in the suit pocket, grinning at Rose. He almost looked a bit embarassed when the Succubus used his real name. Sort of 'Not in front of the Kine!'. He still gave her a pretty sappy, adoring look even so. He was smitten.

"Aw, for you Rosie, I'd break 'em for free," he mumbled behind the bandana, before shaking himself a bit. "Sure, we could use a face man. I reckon we should pick someone with a face people like looking at. People generally listen better to pretty people about shit like this. Sad fact."

Rose nodded quickly. "Good idea. I should probably hire some technical genius as well." The Daeva added, although she was mostly joking. She gave Sharky an extra little smile. Rose knew he was only being so...polite and almost affectionate due to her entrancement of him, but it was rather nice to have someone to talk to whenever she wanted to. And he was genuinely sweet, in a rough around the edges sort of way,

The sound of an engine neared, and a moment later a car rounded the corner. Her well-dressed bouncer Rick, sat in the driver's seat waiting for them to get inside. He was well enough tuned to his mistresses comings and goings that he could be counted on to be on call, whenever she required it.

"...I trained him so well," Rose sighed almost happily. She gestured to the car. "After you."

Rachel cocked her head, listening, trying to count how many unknown vampires were in the area.

"Marvelous. Nomads." Her upper lip curled slightly, as though they had not been in the exact same boat months ago.

"Shall I do a walk by and get a head count?"

Rose gave a quick shake of her head, and motioned for Rick to get out of the car. "We can follow in the car. Rick can follow on foot," she advised, lips drawing into a thin line. Clearly these little upstarts needed to be taught a lesson, but racing in was idiotic.

Besides, hunting was so much more fun.

She got into the driver's seat, and motioned for them to get inside. Rick melted into the shadows of the club, next to the door.

Sharky looked morosely back at the idiot squatters, and felt no tingling, just his Beast itching to smash their heads in. Because that was its answer for everything. It was sort of a good thing that it was also a pretty valid option in his books anyway. Rose's instructions to get in the car were of course, ones he wasn't going to drop, because she was beautiful, and awesome, and he'd give a lot just to be able to go to bed next to that awesome fuckin' ass. He vaguely remembered he hadn't always felt that way about her. God, he must've been so fuckin' stupid.

"You got it, Rosie!" he said happily.

The three vampires emerge from behind the dumpster and come into full view.

Two of them are the asian twins, one with the black hair, and the other blonde. The third, a muscular slightly older man wearing a motorcycle jacket stands in the middle betweem the twins, clearly the leader of the group. [See pictures in the earlier thread]

D'Angelo: (Man in center): "You seem like you're in a hurry tonight. Now I'm not sure where you're going. But I'm pretty sure, the company right here is a LOT more interesting.

"Yeah I'd say so, found ourselves a couple of hotties." The twin with the black hair says dryly.
