Busy Week: Part 2. Empty Busy Week: Part 2.

Post by Seratone Wed Jun 08, 2011 8:45 pm

Chris breathed a sigh of relief as he finally got back to his apartment. It felt re-assuring to get back on the computer. In many ways it was one of the only things he had any control over anymore. He checks his mail, and sees the number of unpaid bills, trying not to think of how much it would cost him to see a liver specialist. He knew his crappy insurance wouldn't be of much help.

But there are more important things to do anyway. Chris thought.

He starts by reaching out to his Police contacts via email: It seems like the whole world has gone mad. What the hell is really going on out there?

Police Contacts: http://sheetgen.dalines.net/wiki/WikiDiceRoller?hash=f0c0e00a (1 success)

Next, he sinks himself into the news, trying to spot a trend or gleam a clue from all of the madness unfolding around him.

Finally, a blog post. It was time to break the story in the hopes that it would inspire people to come forward with information.

Rich Detroit Family Implicated in Kidnappings

Conspiracyblogger has learned that members of Detroit's wealthy Harper family have kidnapped at least five persons over the past week, holding them in a dingy basement on an estate at [address disclosed], being held for days before they mounted a daring escape. The victims claim that the Harpers planned to make them drink blood which can "make you love them." The victims claim that they have not filed a Police report over fears that the rich Harper family would retaliate against them for speaking out.

Post by Seryna Thu Jun 09, 2011 1:10 am

Ken, his contact, sent him an email at 5 P.M.

Its pretty much like what the commish told the media. Criminal element is just going crazy - three apartments were broken into last night. One guy was hospitalized, two were treated by EMTs. I'd look into getting better locks and staying in at night.

We're upping patrols. Craziest thing, we're only finding drunk people to arrest. Whoevers doing the assualts is fast like a freak, we can't even get images off of cameras.
Stay safe.

Thinking about the crime has him unable to find a thread other than what Ken stated. Some people out there are simply becoming violent against citizens.

Only three minutes after his blog, Chris had three replies.

Ward70 replied 'O Rly? Wheres your proof?'
Astarte 2.0 replied 'Heard local kids are scared of that place. Keep your I.P. hopping my friend, those guys got money for tracking people.'
Nimue repled 'I've heard Laura Harper donated 20,000 of her own money to charity this year. Girls living off ramen, refusing to take funds from her folks.'

Chris shoots Ward 70 a PM with the contact information for one of the kidnapped girls.

Here's a source you can use to verify the story. I hope you will be willing to reciprocate. There aren't many real journalists left in Detroit.

Next, he shoots Morgan an email.

There's an old lead I'd like you to track down. Colleen Yates. She is a low level employee of the Harper family, but indicated that she may have information related to "Project Honeycomb." She is for all intents and purposes a normal human being, so we should be able to locate her by daylight, before the curfew sets in across town.

That girls husband just chewed the shit out of me. Thanks for nothing. They verified not a bit about your story. Maybe you should get some more facts before you post things.

Morgans response to Chris was a bit more revealing.

Riggan is going around with the same 2 so called special agents making sure the court houses are being inspected, along with a black haired female, braided back, wearing all black apparel and black gloves waving her hand around and closing her eyes often, perhaps as if using something about herself to figure her findings. Otherwise, the trap door inspection that I had earlier now shows that the trap door is locked from the inside rather than the outside, so no one suspicious can get in. In the meantime, I thank you for opening an avenue to me in my investigation. I hope what i described will be of capable use otherwise.

From there, morgan brought his phone up, one of his disposables, and had dialed sara for an updating of the information.

Sara was actually having a rather relaxing day, in comparison to the last few. She was making the most of it, sitting on the veranda of a coffee shop close to her house, as she went over the information that the team had learnt so far. She had a newspaper spread out on the table as well, as she scanned the reports for anything else unusual that might have been in the press lately.

The cell phone was next to her and, as it rang, she glanced at the screen to check the caller I.D.

"Yeah?" Sara answered.

"Morgan here. I have an update...you know a woman with black hair strung back in a pony tail wearing black clothes and strutting around like she owns the place with the same two FBI agents and Riggan? I also am looking up the next case your companion Chris has sent upon me."

Sara frowned slightly, coffee cup held midway to her mouth as she listened to the PI's rapid onset of fresh information.

"Ahh...no. I'm gonna guess you gave that information to Chris, and he hasn't passed the names across to me." Her tongue clicked against the roof of her mouth in irritation; but she valiently held off the sour mood that now threatened.

"That...description could be any number of people," Sara stated calmly. "You mention the name Riggan though - you tell that to Chris?" she questioned carefully. "Did he...say anything about the name, before he sent you off on another chase?"

A brief pause. "Come to think of it, what IS the next case he sent you on?"

"The involvement of Mr Riggan is of no concern, as chris told me nothing of him after i mentioned him in the previous emails before. Having mentioned him, and having not known any response before then, it leaves me to believe chris put it off as a consideration of a non important suspect. You stating he is an important suspect means you and he are of two different mind sets entirely on this line of questioning. As for the next case, the person I am to investigate on by chris's behalf is a miss colleen Yates."

Of no concern, eh? Sara thought darkly. She set down the coffee mug, in favour of tapping her fingers on the table; the steady thunk, thunk on the wood a sign of mounting frustration.

What the Hell do I need to do, pin up a list of suspect names on his damned fridge?

"I didn't state he was an important anything," Sara answered sharply. "And I don't need it pointed out that he and I think differently. It's pretty much a given," she added. "Carry on with Yates," she instructed.

She was going to have to give Chris a little call; once this conversation was over.

Morgan hanging up the phone on that note as he disposed of it at the nearest dispenser after taking out the memory card for it to keep for the next phone in use.

Sara waited for a good few minutes before dialling Chris' number. She finished the coffee first, and dumped a couple of notes on the table before heading away from the cafe. She didn't need bored patrons listening in on private conversations.

She moved toward the park where she had spoken to Kim a couple of days before, and walked at a relatively leisurely pace toward "her" bench. Ever since moving back into the city, Sara had taken detours through the park while out shopping or jogging. There was something inherently serene about it.

Sara took a seat before flicking a finger against quick dial, and waiting for Chris to pick up.

"Oh geez, did I leave something out?" Chris mutters. "Sorry. I've had a lot on my mind lately. Haven't been sleeping much either."

"Here, I'll forward you the emails that he sent to me."

Chris forwards said emails...

"But yeah, I remember he said something about an FBI cover up or something? Yeah, an Agent Riggins."

"''ll tell you though. I really don't wanna go anywhere near that. I worked a case with the FBI a few months back, and it didn't go down so well. You just can't trust the government. As far as I can tell, they're all in bed with the monsters...probably aliens too if all the buffs are right about Roswell."

"This has nothing to do with the damned Feds being in bed with the boogy man, Chris," Sara growled in frustration. "Agent Riggan is a Harper! The family that you're so obsessed with?"

Haven't been sleeping. Ha! You don't know the fucking half of it.

She would have to check the emails once she got home, and see what the PI and he had talked about. "And even if the Feds were involved because they get their jollies off screwing monsters, you don't just ignore 'em and give up. What else have you been doing?".

"Riggans is a Harper? No shit."

Chris's eyes widen.slightly. I can't believe I missed that.

I've got Morgan tracking Colleen Yates. You remember that woman from the parking lot? It sounded like she had an idea of what the Harper's Project Honeycomb is really all about. At least better info then what Kim's been giving us. She's human so we could get to her during the day, before curfew sets in.

My contacts aren't being too helpful. One lead I got from the Police says whoever is behind a lot of the assaults racking the city is moving insanely fast. Maybe its this other vampire?

I do have a working theory if you want to hear it though Of course he explains before she can answer that.

"If you add up what Morgan found out in the court house plus the reference in the tape to this "Saboteur." It sounds like there is another vampire out there that's attacking the Harpers. I don't know what it means yet, but I have a sneaking suspicion that a lot of what's happening is the result of a pissing contest between this Saboteur and the Harpers."

"Yeah," Sara stated in a tone that sounded distinctly unimpressed. "Riggan was on the family tree that Kim showed us, remember?" she asked, trying to jog the journalist's memory a little bit. Ultimately, Sara gave a heavy sigh. "Forget it, we know another Harper is definitely hanging around. We can go from there."

She peered around the park on reflex, ensuring that she was still alone and the park was quiet. Particularly with the violence on the streets recently, one could never be too careful.

"I'll check in with my contact as well, see if he can't find something else out down at the PD. Listen, I've arranged a shooting lesson- lemme know when you're available, and a buddy of mine will show you some of the basics. That doesn't mean you get to run through a lesson and act like John Wayne," Sara added immediately, her voice warning. "It's an added precaution if something bad happens."

She contemplated his theory, remaining silence for a minute or two. "A vampire war kinda makes sense - humans, or something that isn't as afraid of fire as vampires - must have set that fire though. Kim said they freak the fuck out around fire."

"Hmmm, well. Its just a theory anyway. In any case, shooting sounds like a good idea to me. Kind of goes against the whole report the news don't make the news thing. But when the news is trying to eat you, I guess you have to be flexible. So I'll let you know."
