Medical Emergency

Gerald, though weakened and moving slowly, is able to show Harold around the tunnels, leading them out to what looks like an operational subway tunnel. A chill wind blows through the tunnel indicating that a way out to the surface may be close.

"There are two ways we could go. One way will lead us right out to the surface. Its probably safer but, we'll be risking the cold. The other way is through the subway tunnels. We could get directly underneath the hospital and go up from there. It'd be risky, but we'd get there a lot quicker."

He gasps for air. "You're the doctor right? Which way do you wanna take?"

Harold thinks for a moment. "I have heat in my car, and I need somethings out of it to so lets go that route. If a wolf can outrun a car we need to get caught", said the created doctor. He takes off his yellow skull cap and puts that on Gerald's head in addition to any other cap he had on. Gerald had 2 coats on and 2 hats now.

Once on the surface, Harold finds at least a foot of snow on the ground and the roads around his car un-plowed. He ascertains that it would be almost impossible for his car to operate in these conditions.

Gerald hobbles along to the car his breathing slow and visible in the terrible cold.

In the distance, about 60 yards out, Harold notices two of the savage man-wolves, including the massive dread-locked one. They are closing in fast on your location.

"Oh shit." Gerald mutters. He reaches for his gun, but remembers that he left it with the others, leaving himself unarmed and weak.

A nearby snowplow however appears to be driving alongside where your car is parked, affording one last opportunity at escape.

"Why are they wasting time with you? I don't know if they let us see them to scare us or what ", Harold said casually. "Either way", he tossed Gerald the keys to the truck and said , "start it", while jumping up and down waving his arms seeing that the plow was about to pass them anyway, he just needed for him to get them out quicker. He waited by the open driver side door ready to close it and hop in when the plow passed. "I have a hunting rifle in the back seat, bullets in the glove compartment, shits gonna get real if they get here before we get out", Harold says with no urgency in his voice.

Spoiler:
I doubt I would have been in that spot all night seeing I had to move it to drive to wherever Gerald was taking us in the first place, and my car is an F150 truck that tows and hauls if that matters any, it's not busted or on the fritz or something.

Gerald turns the key and starts the engine, then tries to back the truck up through the massive mound of snow piled behind it. The tires slip and slide a bit, and for a moment it looks like the truck is stuck.

But then the tires gain traction and the vehicle lurches forward, easily outpacing their pursuers.

Harold figures that the two savage men are maybe 40 yards out before the vehicle veers on ahead, safely carrying them away from danger.

When it looks like they are out of danger Gerald mutters.

"I know too much about them, and other things. They'll kill me just for that."

Slowly but surely the truck makes its way toward the hospital, sticking to roads that are somewhat unevenly plowed but drivable.

[If Harold wants to take a shot with his rifle while they are escaping you can do that, just post the roll]

[Side note, NPC Gerald rolled really good to make that maneuver]

Harold noticed that Gerald got out without the plow and made an amused little 'humph' noise. Taking a look back Harold put bullets in his rifle and turned up the heat. "If those 2 are chasing us how many of them are in their gang in all? Knowing that you are actually a target I can't leave you alone", the medical dummy muses, he fully had planed on dropping him off, getting a few supplies, and heading right back, now he thought it'd be irresponsible to leave Gerald out in hostile territory like chum for sharks. This week we'd be saving ghost dad and next week it'd be ghost son. The medically inclined promethan mused on the movie ghost dad and realized that Bill Cosby played 1 of this top 10 tv doctors, then he mused on just how old he really was.

"Alright then I'm coming in with you, until I know they're not following you in they obviously have no qualms about revealing themselves to mobs of humans", he says, then whispers to himself, "damn shame we can't make people forget everything they saw, be too easy huh god", he said in a whisper as an observation not a lament.

Wasn't quite how I envisioned it going down but out is out. I'm putting my hunting rifle in a duffle bag, bringing in my laptop and at least 2 forms of I.d.

It takes them about 20 minutes to arrive at the nearest hospital, a sprawling ten story facility. By that time Gerald's condition had worsened considerably. After stopping the truck about ten yards out from the hospital's front entrance, he tries to walk the rest of the way in, but stumbles and falls face down into the snow...

A team of paramedics from a nearby ambulance immediately notice and rush toward the fallen man.

As they prepare a stretcher one of them asks Harold.

"You are with this guy? What do we got here?"

Harold was born by a public pool, but hospitals were his home. It didn't matter the hospital he got relaxed and comfortable. Despite the situation he loved this. "Yeah, I'm with him", said the medical dummy helping the crew load Gerald onto the stretcher. He was already in the process of devising an explanation for why he was going in deeper with him. He walked side by side with the crew matching their urgency.

Gerald is placed on a stretcher and taken to the hospital's emergency room by the crew. The hospital appears to be jam packed full of people, and the staff look over whelmed. Its no surprise then that no one bothered to challenge Harold following them into the emergency room.

A doctor walks into the room and looks over at Gerald, frowning. "Another pnemonia case huh. He's in for a rough ride."

Then the power goes out. The room goes black for a second before some dim emergency lights turn on.

After a few tense moments the Doctor mutters. "If we don't get power soon, this place is going to get real cold real fast."

"They've got a back up generator here somewhere right?"

One of the paramedics nods. "Yeah its up on the roof. Maintenance should be sending someone up there shortly."

The Doctor looks at Gerald with a worrying expression as precious time and heat ticks away...

Harold had to think in the back of his mind the werewolves pulled a jaws 3 and beat them to the hospital on foot when they drove, but even still it didn't matter because he couldn't beat 2 of them by himself regardless. Wordlessly Harold slips out of the room and uses that blackout to his advantage snagging doctors scrubs if he could. He looked for a clip board to complete the illusion. In 30 some odd years he had doctors credentials under a few different names so acting like he belonged was no act.

Harold is looking for scrubs and a clip board. Next stop is the pharmacy cage. On the way their he'll see if he can pick up a few names. I think he should get a decent bonus to subterfuge if I need to lie seeing he'd know quite a lot about the practices of hospitals. He wants to get into the pharmacy now. If he can sneak in while the lights are out fine, if he has to pretend he's a visiting doctor he'll do that. Most hospitals have a shitton of back up generators so the light probably won't be off long, lights can't go out in the middle of surgeries. If he can find forms to get drugs he will requisition a shitton of tranquilzers, any type of drug that might sedate large beast. Oh yeah I don't know how much I healed but if I find an unattended defibrillator I may juice up, and if I find a portable one i'm throwing it in the duffle bag.

The lights in the hospital come back on after a few minutes, only to go out a few minutes later. The power supply fluctuates for a good 10 minutes before finally coming back without any further disruptions.

During this time the crash dummy is able to navigate through the hospital unhindered, and manages to locate a store room full of medication, including some powerful sedatives. He isn't able to locate any medications that are specifically designed for animals though.

But then, as he fills up his bag in the store room he hears a menacing voice which sends a chill up his spine.

"Looking for something ... or maybe someone?"

As he turns around, he sees the ragged dread-locked man from the tunnels standing in the doorway to the store room.

"Not really", Harold says casually as if he was not all that surprised. "Is there any particular reason you're following me? I'm really not the one you need to be worried about, I'm almost a pacifist and would go out of my way to save your life even though I don't particularly like you, while my friends probably are the let god sort them out sort of bunch. So I'll ask you honestly, are we doing this?", said Harold slowly taking out his pepper spray from his pocket. He had a mind to reach in his duffel bag that he was stuffing meds into and pull his rifle, but maybe that would be premature. If he had time he would have readied a few needles to dose the dread locked monster, but fate as it seemed didn't seem as kind.

I have no point of reference for how much pyros I have or how hurt I already am so I don't have a clue to if I should be fighting this dude, but if he just attacks me unprovoked I'll pepperspray him if their is any left. If their is none left and he flat out attacks I'll go with the rifle. If I pepperspray him then I'll try to run and lock him in the cage while he can't see well. If that doesn't work, and I can't lock him in I'll just use the rifle on him if I pepperspray him. If I lock him in I'd attempt to make an extra strength 4 times dose of a sedative in a few needles .

I don't care what happens I will not coup de grace him. I'm not looking for head shots or going to shoot him on the ground... if I have to fight and I win I'm going to do everything in my power so he doesn't die. I have enough to sedate him in this room if need be unless he's supernaturally immune to sedation.

"We told you to hand over the human and leave didn't we? You didn't do that. That was a bad decision." The burly man says, eyes widening as he takes a step forward, looking like he is ready to pounce on Harold.

"Hey, what the hell is going on in here?"

An unarmed security guard opens the door, challenging Harold and the dread-locked man with his question.

"Whelp, can't hand over something we didn't have to begin with and I don't know if you know this... I'm not in your cave anymore. I really have no idea what the hell was going on", Harold said not bothering to be tactful just telling the unedited truth as he saw it.

Harold shook his head when the guard entered the picture, not knowing a way that this werewolf didn't kill this 'unarmed' man. Dressed in scrubs Harold thought a moment and said, "I caught this man snatching meds from the cage when the power went out. I snatched his bag, and well", he shrugged, "you see him threatening me now. You should call this in", Harold says glancing at the wolf hoping that he stayed focused on him not the other guy. "If you just walk out of here now buddy, you may just get away, but not with this", Harold said shaking the bag playing up the illusion he wanted drugs

He's at full, I may be able to take this dude, if he's a moderate or weak werewolf, but I'd still prefer not to

If I need to roll a persuasion roll to get the wolf to just go home I'm at Man2 + Per1, if it's a roll I'll add a willpower if I have any left.

And I'm at Man2 + Subter1 + (I'm wearing scrubs, if that's worth anything) if I have to convince that guy to call this in and not try to tackle the werewolf and get himself killed. I won't spend a willpower on that if their is a roll because he may be killed regardless.

If I can't stop the werewolf from attacking it's back to my original pepperspray hunting rifle plan.

The security guard lays a hand on the dread-locked man.

"I think you better come with me." He says

The dread-locked man turns around at lightening fast speed and shoves the security guard, sending him flying across the room with such force that he ends up going through a nearby wall.

"This isn't over!" He snarls, before turning to make a dash down the hall way.

Outside a mix of yelling and screams rise up as the feral man shoves his way through the crowds to make his escape...

[Congrats. You made it through the chapter! Just got to wrap things up with Ben and Chaser, and then we can do XP/ other stuff]

Smile Another one in the book eh. I'd probably take just enough meds for the shanty town just in case they need medical assistance, and probably about 5 strong doses worth of sedatives that I could pump in a needle to knock someone out just in case I need to sedate a werewolf, looking for that good Dexter knock out drug. I would not take more then I thought I needed. I'd go check on Gerald, then I'd go back to the tunnel.

Do you want me to go back to the other thread or are we done?

Ben uses a map scrawled at a nearby bus station to make his way to the nearest hospital, braving the freezing cold weather to get Chaser's body to that location. [We can assume that he found some way to conceal the body so as not to attract unwanted attention]

As Harold makes his way to the lobby of the hospital, now a buzz in the wake of the assault on the security guard he sees Ben, carrying something with him,

Harold also notices two police officers standing around, probably in response to the attack. They seem distracted for now, preoccupied with interviewing one of the witnesses in the hall way that saw the werewolf take off.

Harold just came out of the room from checking on Gerald and secured the meager medical supplies for the camp in an entirely new bag. Harold seemed completely at ease even with the police presence and casually walked over to Ben. Adjusting the bag on his shoulder he casually notices the bundle Ben was holding wondering how the hell everyone was beating him to this hospital when he had a car. "Ok... Understood, if'n the humans and ghost dad are ok let's go to my hotel room?", said the medical dummy asking Ben as surely as any resident doctor at the same time walking with him outside.

Harold continues walking on to the car and asks, "Is their anyone hurt in the tunnel that we should be going back there for?". The Medical dummy didn't want to go back, if the humans there were too thick to save themselves and not live next to monsters he couldn't help them, "stupid" was not a treatable ailment. He rooted around for his keys, and said, "I'll need to come back tomorrow to check on Gerald, but other then that I can move on, I got into an adventure saved a ghost or something, met some friends... I didn't really have a chance to ramble with you but I have a few tokens you might wanna check out...", he paused abruptly realizing that Chaser may or may not come back and it made him sad for a moment, but he didn't wallow in it, he just felt it like sobering cold water splashed in his face.

Chasers coming back, I was just flavoring it up and acting like I wasn't certain it'd work, I'm sure he's done it a few times when it didn't work and he wouldn't know why it works when it does.

Setting down Chaser on a bed, Ben elaborates in the privacy of a closed room.

"We fought another... thing... that rushed the camp and bit the man who had the hatchet. We killed it, but Chaser got pretty beat up. He went to heal. A bit later, I heard sounds of a fight echoing and reluctantly left the people and moved to investigate the sounds. That's when I found Chaser and the woman-monster. I grabbed him and ran back to camp to check on it, hoping they hadn't been attacked during my short stint away," Ben explains to the doctor.

Sitting in a chair, he continues, "When I returned, I found the dead monsters were left to burn, and it looked like the people hastily grabbed things and left. I am assuming the man who was bit left with them. I don't know about the ghost-slave. I never knew he was there to begin with, and I was too busy watching the tunnels or getting Chaser, so I didn't notice if anything was out of the ordinary." Ben seems to think for a moment, almost like he's running down a mental checklist, and then just shrugs.

Harold nods as if he understands the situation as well as one could such intangible concepts. The medical dummy looks to Chaser with concern and says, "sometimes they come back on there own", he paused and looked to his cell phone to get an approximate time then continues, "I can't make any promises, but I may be able to bring him back. If he's not stirring by sun rise I'll try to get a spark... But in the mean time", Harold takes out his tokens that Promethans from his 30 years on the road have given him.

Spoiler:
Pretty much going to ramble with Ben until dawn, and show him all the Promethans I've met. Other flavor text'y shit I'd be doing is checking my websight and diagnose people over the internet, and do some medical transcripting, I'd probably also make Ben a email address just in case we get seperated we'd always have a way to contact each other. Figured I'd pause before just raising him just in case something happens between now and then. But if nothing happens you can describe the rezzing process if you want
