Picking up the Pieces (Liam) Empty Picking up the Pieces (Liam)

After departing from the last meeting with the group, Liam called his parents about the 'mugging'. As much as he didn't want to worry them, eventually they would have caught on to the fact that he had no cell phone, no money, and pretty much nothing except for a bag full of art supplies and creepy drawings. Though it wasn't all bad. He luckily had a good friend in Detroit that he managed to talk into letting him room with in a rather small apartment. Nevertheless, it beat being imprisoned in a cellar somewhere. His father finally picked up after about five rings.

"Yeah, I got mugged. Dad, slow down, I'm fine. Not a scratch on me. Look, don't worry about it. Just took my wallet and my cell. I told you, I'm staying with a friend. Don't worry, he's a good guy. Yeah, yeah, like I said, it's taken care of. Listen I got to go. Tell ma hi and all that. Goodbye"

Liam hung up and after trying to squeeze a little more money out of his friend, he took a trip to a hardware store and picked up a sledgehammer. Told the guy it was for a new construction job. He sort of looked the type anyway. He came back and hid the new hammer under the battered couch he slept on. Then he flipped through his sketchbook before falling asleep. He'd take care of everything else in the morning.

Liam figured the trail had gotten cold by now. He had not really kept updated. The normal part of his life had him bogged down. But he figured it was good to keep in touch so he bought one of those disposable cell phones and started checking e-mails at the local internet cafe regularly again.

Two emails awaited Liam.

One was from his father.
Someone had been calling the house at 3 A.M for the last week. Hadn't he canceled the phone?

The second email was from Chrissy Hollandale.
Liam, you remembered to cancel your phone service, right? I've gotten an odd call and had to cancel my phone service. Email me back with the name of the town we left to get my new number.

And guard your phone better! Sure hope you didn't put our real names in your phone!

Checking at his phone service website, he discovered that several calls had been placed. Several in Detroit - to Chrissy? There were also several placed to Detroit. All of the calls seemed to be between the hours of 9 P.M. and 1 A.M.

"Sons of bitches." he muttered. He really didn't expect them, whoever they were, to be this persistent. He attempted to cancel his phone service online and then replied to the two e-mails.

The one sent back to his father said
So sorry. I'm on it. Maybe it's some kind of stupid prank.

The one read to Chrissy read.
I'll remember that. By the way the town's name is Whispering Falls.

As the confirmation page came up to cancel the phone; he saw that a number had just been dialed out to New York; with a two minute phone call. Liam was able to cancel his cell phone service.
He'd likely want to get another one and look into replacing the items that had been taken from him; like his I.D. A college student I.D. could be obtained at Student Services.

Emails

Glad you're taking care of things. Let us know if theres anything we can do.
~Dad

Good to know you're O.K.,
Chrissy's email began.
What happened with the Harper investigation? We haven't heard from the others. Is every one O.K.? Why don't you meet me at CoCo's on Second street for dinner tonight; around 5.
