Sara & Chris Empty Sara & Chris

Chris decides to give Sara a telephone call.

Sara picked up her cell, pausing mid-way to the door. Dressed in jogging pants, she had been about to take a long and relaxing jog. Donahue had suggested it last night, and it seemed like a good idea. "Yeah?" she greeted brusquely
"Its Chris, I was hoping we could chat today. Do you have some time?"

In the sanctity of her domain, Sara arched a brow. "Time and place?"

"There's a coffee shop on third and C. Can you be there in an hour?"

She assumed, from the public nature of the meeting point that what he wanted to talk about wasn't too important. Still... "I'll be there." She disconnected the call, and moved out of the apartment. She could jog there.

Chris takes his car to the place, orders a cup of coffee and grabs a booth.Chris still winces in pain as he seats himself in the booth. His scars concealed beneath his trench coat and shirt.

Sara arrived a couple of minutes before the hour, and paused outside the coffee shop to peer inside. She grabbed a cup of water before sidling through the busy tables to the booth that Chris had selected. "What's up?" she questioned, her gaze flickering across him automatically to review the potential for new injuries.

Chris thanks her for her medical help two days before..

"It was fortunate I know basic medicine to help," Sara responded, her tone even.

"So, if something like that happens again. What would you like me to do?"

"Cause I obviously don't know what the hell I'm doing." He takes a sip from his coffee

Sara paused and studied Chris seriously, over the rim of her plastic cup. She took a long and measured sip, thinking over what to say. "You listen to orders," Sara responded calmly.

Chris nods his head. "Alright I can do that. You seem to know a lot about combat, so I'll defer to your judgment if we get into something like that again." A pause. "Is that cool?"

'Seemed to know a lot about combat'. The comment bit, but on this occasion she knew he didn't meant it how it sounded. Sternly, she nodded and absently she scratched at a hand. There was a bandage across each knuckle, clearly new. "Let's get another couple of things straight. I don't give orders to be a bitch, Chris. It's for your safety. If I need back-up, I'll ask for it. And I'll make damned sure you're armed to the teeth first too."

Chris nods his head. "Alright. I'm glad we have an understanding then. I know things have been tense, I mean who wouldn't be strung out after something like that happened?" He purses his lips. "So what's the game plan? Is that thing going to come after us again?"

"I'm not strung out," Sara corrected with a swift shake of her head. "And that thing is dead. It keeled over right in front of us. The Priest checked its damned body, remember?"

"Yeah, but then there was something else...a second woman?" Chris shudders slightly.

"I've never seen anything like that before," Sara replied. "Only thing I ever saw before this shit happened was-," she shook her head abruptly. "Forget it. I don't know what it is."

"So if its dead then we've got nothing to worry about right?" He purses his lips. "But the Harpers...the Harpers are still out there." He purses his lips. "I want to do something to hit back at them. Is that something you'd be willing to back me up on?"

"We still need to figure out what the second thing is. Liam is working on some leads at the moment. I think he's meeting some...occultist guy." Her expression suggested she was assuming the occultist was a crackpot, by dint of being a damned occultist. "We need to be careful with the Harpers. They have a lot of social pull - we can't just rush in there again. You have to understand that."

Chris pulls out the article discussing the flu crisis and criticism of Ben Harper. "They have a plan. Don't know what it is, but it can't be good and I get the feeling that time is running out." He points out the statement from Susan Harper. "She's talking to the Press Sara. If I could get her away from her goons long enough to do an interview..."

"You'd do what? Ask he questions, trying to be probing but not too suspicious? They have our faces, Chris," Sara stated sternly. "Do you really think you can charm her? 'Cause...I'm sorry, Chris but I don't think you can."

"I know the press in this city. If she's willing to go somewhere and talk to someone, I'll find out who and where." He leans forward. "Do you understand what I'm saying? The only way we can find out what they're doing is to take one in alive. I know that sounds extreme, but people out there are dying."

Sara hesitated, and shook her head gently. "I don't think they have anything to do with the flu epidemic. It doesn't make sense, from what I've heard about the enemy so far. Tactically, no one messes up their own shit for fun. Animals aren't even that fuckin' stupid. And we can't rush things - that's how mistakes are made." She paused again, her attention flickering back to Chris. "Trust me."

"Alright. Well I'll see if I can get her public schedule. And if I hear anything else, I'll let you know."
