Abattoir is a gutter Salon of sorts, made from an old slaughterhouse. It's new, proving popular with neonates from all walks of the requiem: down and outs, up and comers and dead socialites going through a slumming-it phase. The property lies on the eastern edge of the Rack, in an industrialized neighbourhood that's starting to become more lucrative as money is funneled into renovating and refurbishing nearby warehouses into condos, performance venues and nightspots.

Theatre der Verboten

The theatre resides along a dark, deserted street where half the buildings lay abandoned to the junkies and bangers who greedily tag them for their own. Theatre der Verboten's neon sign blinks in a feeble attempt to sing a siren’s song, but the patron’s heading toward this address already know where they’re going. Otherwise they’d be terribly lost.

Inside the slowly crumbling brick building is a two-tiered theatre club facing a small stage upon ...

The Tap Room

During prohibition in the 1920’s, Detroit was famous for its speakeasies: hidden bars or clubs that sold alcohol secretly and illegally. The Tap Room, catering to Kindred and Kine, is one of the best-hidden bars in all of Detroit. It began its life as one of the original gin speakeasies in 1921 for Capone’s boys when they came up from Chicago, and has never had a sign on its exterior to mark its presence, or marketing of any sort done to promote it. The only way ...

Klub Phetish

A disorientating mix of flashing strobes, rotating spotlights, neon and black lights, set to the pounding base beat of the latest industrial techno fill every cubic inch of this spacious fetish club that boasts a waiting list every night of the week. Catering to Kine only (a savvy Kindred gets the impression this is an incredibly exclusive establishment and likely a private herd for some kinky Elder), you must be appropriately dressed to gain entrance. Once inside, however, ...

Hamtramck is one of the two citys surrounded by Detroit, although a small portion of Hamtramck borders neighbouring Highland Park. It's made up from about 2.1 square miles of blue-collar suburbs, framed by the I-75 and the I-94, and is home to roughly 24,000 people, making it densely populated. The city is diverse, with a large Polish population and around 40% of its residents foreign-born. It's also notable for its distinguished music venues, traditionally known for their part in the punk and ...

Detroit's freeways are made up from several interconnecting major Interstate Highways and additional supporting freeways. The Metro region has an extensive toll-free expressway system which, together with its status as a major port city, provide advantages to its location as a global business center.

Outside of the rack, freeways are sought after feeding grounds, for the anonymous dregs and blue-tarp communities which tend to congregate beneath them at night. Chunks of freeway territory are ...

The undercity consists of the half-made metro tunnels, subway stations and the narrow utility corridors connecting them, the remnants of old buildings buried beneath newer buildings, obsolete sewage works which descend far below into the broad drowned tunnels which, through some cruel twist of civil engineering, flood with sewage and drain themselves with no predictable pattern. Few Kindred know the full extent of the mobility the undercity can afford to them. When most refer to the undercity, ...

Surrounded by Detroit, decline has forced the city of Highland Park beyond disrepair. This decaying city has been forced to it's knees, where it labours for breath. In recent years, bankruptcy has pushed Highland Park into receivership by the state, requiring the abandonment of all of it's municipal facilities. It's death pallor can be seen in the policehouses and courthouses left to rot. It's last gasps echo through firehouses and schools which lie empty. Plans are underway to establish Highland ...

The Bottomless Faith Rescue Mission can be found on Sanctified territory on Trumbull Street, a few blocks from the Church of the Immaculate Conception. It looks like any number of squat, municipal-grey buildings dotting any district, although this one appears stranded in the barren expanses of cracked asphalt and overgrown weeds.

The Homeless Shelter functions as a place for a small number of 'at risk' vagrants to spend their nights for no longer than two weeks. It operates as a soup kitchen ...

The Opera House on Broadway Street serves as Elysium for Detroit proper. Originally opened in 1869, the venue was damaged in a blaze during the 1930s. It lay dormant thanks to the efforts of the historical society and despite several ill-fated attempts to restore it, the Opera House was allowed to decay as late as 1997, the year it was purchased and renovation began, opening to the public in 2002.

The structure is large and imposing, geometrically severe, with clusters of tragedian masks ...

The Junkyard sits on the corner of Glendale and 3rd like a sprawling rust tumour, wedged between impoverished suburbs. This is where the Baron of Highland Park makes his haven.
